Custom Stain & Finish Matching in Frisco, TX

Getting new hardwood floors to match the ones you already have sounds straightforward. In practice, it rarely is. At Peeks Floor Co. in Frisco, TX, we specialize in custom stain and finish matching so your floors look like they were always meant to be together.

Why Stain and Finish Matching Is Harder Than It Looks

Wood floors change over time. Light exposure and oxidation gradually shift the color of your existing floors, sometimes by a lot. A new board pulled straight from a box will almost never match an aged floor without custom work.

Species matter too. Oak, maple, hickory, and pine all absorb stain at different rates and produce different results with the same product. What works perfectly on a dense-grain oak floor may look completely different on a more porous wood.

On top of that, your current finish has its own set of variables. Oil-based and water-based polyurethanes age and yellow at different rates. Sheen levels reflect light differently. If the sheen on a repaired section doesn’t match the rest of the room, it will stand out, even when the stain color is close.

These are the details that determine whether your floor looks repaired or replaced.

What Peeks Floor Co. Does Differently

Peeks doesn’t pick a color from a chart and hope it’s close. Before any stain goes down across a full floor, we test samples directly on your floor in your actual room, under your actual lighting. You see the result before anything is committed.

When no off-the-shelf stain matches your aged floor, we create a custom blend. We also match the sheen level of your existing finish so new boards don’t catch the light differently than the rest of the room.

You can also visit the Peeks Floor Co. showroom in Frisco to look at stain samples, bring in a paint swatch, or bring in a cabinet door. Seeing options in person and then testing them in your home is the most reliable way to get a true match.

Common Situations We Help With

You may be dealing with one of these:

Room additions. You’re extending hardwood from your living area into a hallway, bedroom, or new build-out and need the new floor to blend with what’s there.
Repairs. A few boards were damaged by water, a pet, or everyday wear. You want replacements that look like they belong, not patches.
Transitions. You need floors to match stairs, stair treads, or an adjacent room with a slightly different wood or stain.
Refresh. Your existing floors have taken on an orange or red tone over the years. You want to update the color without replacing the entire floor.

Each of these calls for a slightly different approach, and we walk through it with you before the work begins.

The Process: From Sample to Seamless

Here’s what to expect when you work with Peeks Floor Co. on a stain and finish match:

Consultation. We assess your existing floor (species, condition, current finish type, and sheen level) either in your home or at our Frisco showroom.

Custom blend and test. We create a stain blend and apply it to a sample area of your actual floor, not a scrap board in a shop.

Your approval. You review the color in person, in your room, before we proceed with the full application.

Full application. Stain and finish go down across the area. We address transitions and trim so the result is complete, not just close.

There are no surprises once the job is underway because you’ve already signed off on the color you’ll live with.
